End Poverty in California

End Poverty in California (EPIC) is a policy initiative led by Michael Tubbs, working to disrupt the conversation around poverty and economic inequality in California. EPIC isn't another political think tank buried in dense policy papers. It's a movement designed to inspire real people to engage with the issues shaping their communities and believe that change is possible.

The Problem

EPIC was launched with a bold mission: end poverty in California. But they had a challenge that plagues most policy initiatives: how do you make complex, weighty issues feel accessible and inspiring?

They didn't want to be another data-heavy organization that only speaks to insiders. They needed a brand and platform that could cut through political noise, resonate with everyday Californians, and turn awareness into action.

Without a clear visual identity or a website that made their policies digestible, they risked being just another voice in an already crowded space.

Our Solution

We started with the brand. We created a visual identity that felt fresh, hopeful, and distinctly Californian. Bright colors, bold illustrations, and subtle nods to the state's history brought the conversation to life and set the tone for real reform.

Then we built a website that took complicated policies and made them bite-sized and understandable. We used visuals and storytelling to show how these issues impact real Californians, not just statistics. And we created simple, clear pathways for people to get involved—because inspiration without action doesn't move the needle.
